In 2017 the Justice and Community Safety Directorate (JACS) conducted a review of the ACT Official Visitors Scheme. The report was finalised in November 2017 and is available here. The review found that the Official Visitor Scheme was a valuable scheme and that official visitors are highly trusted by clients and service providers alike. The review also identified some areas for improvement, which are discussed in the report. JACS would like to thank everyone who engaged with the review process. On 15 August 2019, the Minister for Justice, Consumer Affairs and Road Safety presented the Official Visitor Amendment Bill 2019 in the Legislative Assembly, which addressed a number of recommendations of the review. Several of the recommendations of the report relate to administrative rather than statutory arrangements, and their implementation is being progressed separately.
