Motorcycle Lane Filtering

09 October 2018
Revision:1

Minister for Road Safety Shane Rattenbury announced today (9 October 2018) that motorcycle lane filtering is continuing permanently in the ACT, following the outcomes of an independent evaluation.

Lane filtering is when a motorcyclist moves at low speed between stationary or slow moving vehicles in the same lane, providing an opportunity for motorcyclists to move quickly and safely away from congested areas of traffic.

More information on the trial can be found on ACT Lane Filtering Trial, noting that all trial conditions will continue, with an addition that motorcyclists are not allowed to lane filter in any 40km/h speed zone.
