The Board consists of a Chair, at least one Deputy Chair, and not more than eight other members.  The Attorney-General appoints members for a period not exceeding three years [(section 174 Crimes (Sentence Administration) Act 2005 (CSA Act)]. The Chair and Deputy Chair are judicial members, and they are required to have been ‘a legal practitioner for not less than 5 years’ (section 174(8) CSA Act). The current Chair and two Deputy Chairs of the Board each have extensive experience in the criminal justice system and in administrative law.
